Somewhere in the Garden of England (Kent) is the office of this public relations company that the Hawker family are using as a buffer between themselves and the media. It must at least give them some room to grieve and act as a first point of contact for the ever persistent (Japanese) media, ourselves included of course.
The use of such companies by the victims of horrendous crimes is a real novelty in Japan and so part of our coverage in this tragic story has been to introduce and explain this facility. As well as seeing it here it has also been visible in another high profile case in Europe, that of missing Madeline McCann.
The office itself was a little large for its three occupants, and so filming it to look busy and exciting was slightly challenging but the fact that we could show it in operation at all had been in doubt as the subject seemed, despite dealing with the press and public, somewhat hesitant when in the spotlight herself.
